Northern Valley Health

The Northern Valley Health Coalition, Inc. was created by community members and Sunshine Community Health Center to act as a unified voice for the rural needs of our northern valley communities (Trapper Creek, Talkeetna, Willow, and the surrounding areas). The coalition is driven by community members and we value your voice. We encourage you to join the Northern Valley Health Coalition.

What do we do?

There is no limit to what the Northern Valley Health Coalition, Inc. can do to support healthier communities. Health is far more than your office visit and we aim to address social determinants of health barriers through communication, engagement, obtaining resources, and making meaningful connections with our communities. Mission

The Northern Valley Health Coalition is committed to creating long-lasting community relationships to transform and improve the social, health, and economic conditions in our Northern Valley communities for improved health outcomes.

Vision

Improved Health Outcomes

To improve the health of Northern Valley residents, addressing social determinants of health barriers.

Communication

To maintain a networking system and increase communication between organizations and community members who serve the Northern Valley.

Engagement & Involvement

To engage and involve all segments of our Northern Valley communities to take ownership and work together to address to community needs.

Education

To utilize connections and resources to educate our Northern Valley residents on relevant topics that have a positive impact on our community members.

Board Chair

Sierra Winter Smith

I have worked for Sunshine Community Health Center for 10 years and I've learned a lot from community members like you. I am excited to serve the communities that raised me in this capacity.

Community is defined as a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals. The Northern Valley Health Coalition is a unique way for motivated community members to come together to make positive change. I am excited to see what we can do!

Secretary

Ronni Spaulding

I am an Aleut (Unangax) Alaska Native descendant that was raised in Willow. Alaska is in my blood and means home to me. I have worked for Sunshine Community Health Center for 3 years, where I get to participate in evolving our Northern Valley communities into the healthiest rural area in Alaska.

I am motivated to be a part of this coalition and give back to the community that raised me and participate in the unified voice for the Northern Valley.

Treasurer

Amanda Simpson

I have grown up in the Northern Valley, served as a board member of Sunshine Community Health Center and now I have been an employee of Sunshine Community Health Center for a full year.

I am passionate about advocating for our communities and community members health care and access to local resources. I am so excited to be part of the Northern Valley Health Coalition and to give back to my community in this way.
