Project Homeless Connect || January 30th
"The 2024 Mat-Su Project Homeless Connect will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2024, 10 a.m. – 2 p.m., at the Menard Center in Wasilla. The doors will open at 7 a.m. for vendors and volunteers. If you’ve not already applied and are interested in tabling at the event, please fill out the attached Vendor Application and Oath of Confidentiality and return to me via email at your earliest convenience." Sierra Winter shares that Sunshine Community Health Center is attending the Upper Susitna Community and Senior Center's lunches once a month to provide blood pressure checks and support from a patient advocate.
Sierra Winter specifically asks team members to share more information about Project Homeless Connect and the Willow Winter Carnival and invites exhibitors to register/attend the upcoming Health Fairs in Willow and Trapper Creek this spring.
Becky Stoppa shares information about Project Homeless Connect and encourages exhibitors to register for the event by emailing her at impact@unitedwaymatsu.org. She thanks Sunshine Community Health Center for being the first to register.

Linda Oxley shares information about the Willow Winter Carnival and how vendors/exhibitors can get involved. She will share the event agenda once published and encourages folks to reach out at www.waco-ak.org or by emailing her at lmoxley@mtaonline.net.
Brenda McCain shares information about the upcoming safety fair in Willow on May 18th and shares the successes of having CERT teams in all three of our primary Northern Valley communities. She invites exhibitors to join by emailing her at brendalmccain@gmail.com.
Sierra Winter reminds the team about the Community Newsletter and offers to coordinate Zoom or in-person events for each organization to connect with more northern valley community members.
Sierra Winter shares that the meeting recurrence will remain the same to have at least one in-person meeting this year.
Sierra Winter shares she will be working on applying for relevant grants for the NVHC to project plan and work from.
Sierra Winter shares that Sunshine Community Health Center is seeing a lot of success in their Social Determinants of Health efforts and looks forward to inviting Ryan Romans to speak on these efforts again this year.
Sierra Winter opens the meeting for round table discussions and announcements.
Duronda Twigg announces that Sunshine Community Health Center is in the middle of several beneficial projects from their SDOH efforts to nursing support in the northern valley that would provide resources to new mothers up to 2 years after birth of their child. She shares that projects/efforts continue to work towards providing the quadruple aim (enhancing patient experience, improving population health, and reducing costs) and working towards Value Based Care.
Sierra Winter opens the meeting to help any members navigate the website resources.
